PRO PLUG
PRODUCT FEATURES
All you really need to get started are two Pro Plug items - the Pro Plug Tool for Wood and Pro Plug Plug & Fastener Kit - along with a bottle of wood glue and some simple tools.
The Smart-Bit Pro Plug System* was tightly engineered to create a perfect looking and fitting result. Therefore, only Pro Plug components should be used together.
The Pro Plug Tool creates a screw hole and countersink portion that is perfectly matched to the Pro Plug Fasteners. All aspects of the screw were considered in engineering the hole: shank diameter, overall length, countersink angle, head height and head diameter. The tool also creates a counterbore portion that is perfectly matched to the Pro Plug Plug.
PRO PLUG TOOL
COUNTERSINKING TOOL
The pre-drilling and counterbore tool is derived from Starborn’s Smart-Bit tool. It creates a screw hole, countersink and counterbore, into which our specially engineered screws and plugs fit perfectly.
STANDARD DRILL BIT
Drill bits feature Powerbolic fluting technology, which cuts through decking more than twice as fast as standard wood bits, even dense hardwoods.
STUB BIT
Stub Bits can be used to cut only a plug hole.
THE PRO PLUG GLUE NOZZLE
The Pro Plug Glue Nozzle coats the side of the hole, which is where the glue is needed for holding power. Little to no glue ends up on the bottom, where it is not needed and where excess glue can create a hydraulic lock preventing full plug insertion. This unique, patent pending device will attach to any interior or exterior 4 or 8 ounce bottle of Titebond® wood glue and any 4, 8 or 16 ounce bottle of Elmer's® wood glue.
WOOD PLUGS
Face grain wood plugs are available in many species. A unique chamfer and reduced flare angle offers easy insertion and an extremely tight fit with minimal to zero push-up from weathering. Plugs are inserted completely, with no need for sawing or chiseling.
FASTENERS
Decking kits come with #305 stainless steel deck screws that are 2-1/2" long. Flooring kits come with 1-5/8" long hardened steel zinc plated screws. All Pro Plug Fasteners have #2 square recesses, long favored by woodworkers.
DRIVER BIT
Kits include a #2 driver bit (two for the 1,050 kits), each 2" (50mm) long.
